[Barbara looks exhausted, but if anything, the light in her eyes is fiercer than ever. She was thrown some curve balls, sure, but nothing that could crush her.

She's becoming inured to trauma, she thinks. She's not sure how to feel about that.

Her voice is a bit dull when she speaks, thick with deep weariness and deeper aches, but it's steady.]

[The worst part, really, was what she couldn't see. She hadn't contacted anybody, save her hijack of Iris' call, and it ate at her, what the people she loved might be facing.

She needs to know they're all right.]

[Dean, like everyone else, sounds tired but he's trying to make the most out of it all.]

[Her lips quirk. She's not too tired to be amused.]

That would narrow the field a bit too much.

[Hey, as long as people are still amused by him, he'll keep cracking lame jokes.]

On the other hand, it'll considerably shorten your thank you note list.

[And then, a more quiet moment before Dean switches to private.]

Hey um. I know we don't know each other real well, but could I uh. Ask you a favor?

[ Private ]

[Her eyes widen, slightly, before she nods.]

Shoot.

[ Private ]

[Dean is quiet for a few moments, though, trying to decide how to word this. Barbara's good at picking up inferences, though. He can hope she'll get it without him spelling it out, because if there's one thing Felix won't thank him for, it's probably this.

But.]

Felix... works through stress. He's going to be working a lot after that port.

[ Private ]

[A knowing smile curves her lips, there and gone.]

I'll be with him.

[ Private ]

[He knew she'd get it. He blows out a long breath, but as relieved as he instantly is, he's still not relaxed. The hunter rubs at the back of his neck, but there's no way to solve the rest of what he's worried about, no way to give her a better idea of what to look for without giving away things he doesn't even know are true.

[Barbara shakes her head.] No you don't. I care about him, too.

[ Private ]

[That's good to hear. Even knowing it's true - else why would he be bringing it up at all - it's still good to hear aloud.]

All the same. I'll buy you a milkshake sometime, or like, get you a tasteful thank you card and I won't even draw any rude pictures in it.
