[Here is Barbara, looking distinctly irritated. There are dark circles under her eyes, and her hair is a mess. It's clear she's been paying far more attention to work than herself, and that she's in absolutely no mood.]

You know, it'd be nice if he got specific for once. "A problem". What kind of problem? What glitch, exactly, makes people able to communicate with us across time and space? Why can't we do this on a regular basis?

[Her voice is just dripping with disdain, now.] Should I even assume he knows?

[She takes a moment, reigns in the jagged aggravation.]

Any of you looking for answers - I'm sorry, but I can't give you any. I don't know why you can communicate with us. I don't know how it works. I don't know if you'll even remember this later.

We're a cross-dimensional rehabilitation facility. Our Admiral is staggeringly incompetent.

[The emotional in her catches him off guard, although he doesn't show it. He still plays it cool and casual but he is watching her very closely.]

That's me. You know, the guy who took a trip to the grave and then decided that whole dead thing wasn't for him.

[But he's older. He looks - she's imagined it, how he might look if he -

Barbara swallows hard.]

If this is some kind of trick I swear to God -

God has nothing to do with what happened to me. I'm no Lazarus but I did stop by a pit he might like.

[His voice becomes softer as he picks up that her emotions are genuine and she's not trying to bullshit him. This was the kind of emotion he had been desperately hoping for when he first encountered Bruce and was shown known of it. Seeing the lack of remorse in Bruce's eyes cemented his new destiny.]

It's me. No bullshit, no nothing.

[Her eyes go wide as all the threats die in her throat. That - it makes sense, maybe - ]

I need to be sure, Jason. I -

[What could she ask him?]

...Name something I taught you. A few things, preferably.

You taught me we wouldn't be having s'mores and sleepovers in my lifetime. Maybe that answer'll change now that I'm not a boy any more and that life is over. [Grins.]

You also taught me you have some prophetic skills when you introduced me to the phrase "jump the shark." We turned out to be a couple of shark jumpers after all. Your role as Batgirl got canceled, my role as Robin got canceled, and both by the same person.

[Barbara bows her head for a moment, biting her lip hard. She's not - no, not where anyone else can see her.

When she looks up, though, her eyes are bright.]

We pitched new ones, though, huh?

We did and I think out of our dysfuntcional little family, you're the only one who really gets why I took on this new role. You, me, and countless others still remain unavenged.

[It takes a moment for that to sink in, and then...she just closes her eyes. When she speaks, it's very quiet.]

Yeah. Yeah, I get it.

At least in our world, sounds like the Bruce on the ship with you has been busy.

[Unlike the rest of the Batclan, Jason sounds pleased, proud even.]

[Barbara looks up, her gaze hard and sad.]

Would you kill Poison Ivy? Harley Quinn?

Can't think of any reason why I wouldn't. They each have body count totals that would make Ted Bundy feel like a slacker.

They've saved people, too.

And Harley - she's his victim too, Jason. [Not entirely - Harley makes her own choices, and maybe she'd have turned down a dark path anyway. But they'll never know.]

The thing is, they're not killers like me. I only kill the bad guys, they murder innocent people.

[His voice isn't filled with the usual disregard he has for the people he kills. He doesn't want to admit it but what she said about Harley also being a victim struck a chord with him.]

[She can hear that, and her voice softens.] How are we defining 'bad guy'?
